Besser Museum Northeast Michigan
Explore Art, History, and Science in Alpena!
Since 1966, the Besser Museum has offered the community educational experiences in art, history, and science that are exclusive to the museum. Come enjoy our historical village, planetarium show, Foucault pendulum, fossil digging pit, rotating art galleries featuring both regional and nationally renowned artists, wildlife exhibits, and thousands of artifacts from early man. We look forward to seeing you!
Art Exhibits: Besser Museum's fine art collection includes watercolor, oil, pastel, acrylic and collage paintings, prints, art pottery, and sculpture. The Museum's extensive collection of art that cannot be found anywhere else in Northeast Michigan includes works of art from Michigan artists such as Tom Moran to world-renowned artists like Cezanne, Renoir, Dali, Picasso, Warhol, Rivera, Chihuly, Clewell, and more! Because we have such a great collection of fine art, we change the exhibited work on a regular basis. For information on what is currently being exhibited, please give us a call at 989-356-2202.
Planetarium: Get ready to explore your universe in Northeast Michigan's only 30-foot full dome planetarium, located at 491 Johnson Street, Alpena, MI inside the Besser Museum.
