Charity Islands are directly to the east, 10-12 miles out. Boaters can enjoy beautiful beaches to walk, picnicking, searching for rare stones, and bird watching. There are seven submerged shipwrecks off the east coast of the Islands. On a clear day, they are visible from the surface. Scuba diving possibilities. There is an old lighthouse on the main island.
Green Drive bisects the 10-acre campground with the marina and boat launch on the east side of the road. Woods surround the campsites on the west side of the road. It is an easy walk to the water from the west side of the campground. There are 75 campsites and 80 boat docks. Campsites range from primitive to full hook-up with 30 and 50 amp service. RV dump station is also available. Rental cabins also on-site.
There is a modern bathhouse with hot showers. All the sites are grass. Some sites are in the sun, and some sites are in the shade. The owners are environmentally sensitive and preserve the natural features of the area. Firewood is available.
Many campers bring their boats and enjoy fishing or other water sports. Other campers enjoy the water and viewing beautiful Saginaw Bay. Shipping freighters can be seen far out in the shipping channel as cargo is shipped from Lake Superior to Bay City.
Organizations hold fishing tournaments here while fishing for walleye just out of the marina. Green Drive turns into a two-track path that is used for walking and observing the bald eagles. Three miles down the road, the boardwalk extends 600 feet out into the wetlands for bird watching. Memorial Day weekend, campers are encouraged to hold "garage sales" limited to water sports items.
