Overlook the World's Largest Limestone Quarry

In continuous operation since 1912, the Calcite Quarry has shipped well over 700 million tons of high quality limestone to customers throughout the midwest. The limestone was deposited over 350 million years ago when the area was submerged in a shallow sea. The calcium in the water settled out and formed a deposit that is hundreds of feet thick.
