Join the Alpena Farmers’ Market for the 3rd Annual Apple Pie Bake-Off on Saturday, October 10, 2026.

Sponsored by Amy Roznowski of Real Estate One, the event welcomes amateur and professional bakers to compete for cash prizes while supporting the local community.

Submissions

Bakers must drop off a freshly baked, uncut, 8-10 inch pie between 8:00 AM and 10:00 AM at the Mich-e-ke-wis warming shelter. The park is located at 1302 South State Ave. Pies must feature local apples and a homemade filling. Participants aged 5 to 17 need a parent’s permission to enter.

Labeling Requirements

Entrants must label the bottom of their pie plate with their name and phone number. An accompanying card listing the pie’s name, ingredients, and the baker’s name is also required.

Judging & Prizes

Judging takes place from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Winners will receive cash prizes of $100 for 1st place, $50 for 2nd place, and $25 for 3rd place.

Community Tasting

Starting at 11:00 AM, the pies will be cut and served to the public. Slices will be offered in exchange for small donations, with all proceeds benefiting the Health and Nutritional Incentive Program.
