Welcome to the Great Lakes Lore Maritime Museum

We offer our visitors the opportunity to immerse themselves in Great Lakes shipping history. See the uniforms, the navigational tools and equipment, and hear former sailors tell their stories.

The museum honors all who made their living on the waterways: Great Lakes captains and their crews, Coast Guard Lighthouse Keepers, pre-colonial French and British traders, and even Native American traders. If you love the lakes and its freighters, you’ll love the Great Lakes Lore Maritime Museum.
