Lake Besser

Greenways Birding Trail

This is a flooding of the Thunder Bay River (caused by the Ninth Street Dam), which created a quiet lake. At the intersection of US-23 and Johnson Street, turn onto Johnson and drive two blocks. Besser Worldwide Corporate Headquarters will be on the north side of the road, and a flooding of the Thunder Bay River (caused by the Ninth Street Dam) created a quiet lake on the other side.

In the spring and fall, waterfowl of many species visit here. A ruddy duck once spent two weeks here in the fall. In the fall, ring-necked ducks occur here in the hundreds.
